Keep business mileage separate from everyday driving

Clear classification is the foundation of a useful mileage log. MileDock lets you mark a trip as business, personal, or commute so your records stay easier to review later.

For business trips, you can also select a purpose such as rideshare driving, delivery, a client meeting, a job site, supply pickup, a business errand, or another purpose. That extra context helps turn a number into a record you can understand months later.

A practical trip-recording workflow

Open the trip form, choose the date, select the trip type, enter the miles, add a business purpose when relevant, and save. Optional notes can capture useful context without slowing down routine entries.

The dashboard then summarizes monthly and weekly mileage. Business mileage can also be used to show an estimated deduction based on the mileage rate configured in the app. Estimates are informational recordkeeping tools, not tax advice.

Reports that are easier to review

MileDock can export mileage records as CSV or PDF files. Choose a reporting period such as the current month, last month, year to date, all time, or a custom range.

CSV files are useful for spreadsheets and custom analysis. PDF reports provide a cleaner summary for recordkeeping and sharing. Always review exported records and consult a qualified professional when using records for tax, accounting, reimbursement, or compliance purposes.

Local-first records and backup

MileDock is designed around local device storage. You can create a backup file through Android’s system file picker and restore a selected backup later.

Regular backups are important because uninstalling the app, clearing app data, resetting a device, or losing a device can remove locally stored records.
